[THEME SONG BEGINS]
>>RACHEL: Hey there, it’s time for Chompers. Your morning and night toothbrushing show.
Start brushing on the top of your mouth, and make little circles with your brush around each tooth.
>>KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!
[THEME SONG ENDS]
>>RACHEL: It’s Teeth week and tonight we're playing…
[WHATS THAT SOUND THEME]
>>RACHEL: We’ll play a sound from the dentist, and you have to guess what it is.
Here’s your first one:
[STRONG ELECTRIC WHIRLING]
>>RACHEL: What was that? Here it is one more time:
[STRONG ELECTRIC WHIRLING]
>>RACHEL: So what’s that sound? Shout it out.
[MUSIC BEGINS]
>>KID: A drill.
>>RACHEL: A Drill.
Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth…
[SWITCH BELL]
>>RACHEL: and brush all the way to the back.
Dentists’ drills might make a loud sound but they are TINY. Dentists sometimes use drills to make a hole in a tooth that has a cavity, to clean it out. Once the hole is cleaned out, dentists fill it with what we call a filling. And tada - your tooth is all fixed and ready to go!
Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth…
[SWITCH BELL]
>>RACHEL: and brush your front teeth, too.
Here’s your next sound:
[LAUGH]
>>RACHEL: What was that? Here it is one more time:
[LAUGH]
>>RACHEL: So what’s that sound? Shout it out.
>>KID: A LAUGH!
>>RACHEL: A laugh.
>>KID: Huh?
>>RACHEL: What does laughing have to do with being at the dentist?
Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…
[SWITCH BELL]
>>RACHEL: but don’t brush too hard.
Dentists sometimes give their patients LAUGHING GAS to help them relax.
[SIGH]
>>RACHEL: You breathe it in and it makes you feel comfy and a little bit silly so that the dentist can do their work and help you walk away with a clean mouth!
[MUSIC ENDS]
