>> RACHEL: Good morning, it’s time for Chompers! Your morning and night toothbrushing show.

It’s Geography Week (SFX) and today we’ve got riddles about CONTINENTS.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth. Pick a side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!!

>> RACHEL: So what is a continent? Earth is pretty much two things: water (SFX wave)  and land (SFX rock). We use the word CONTINENT to talk about big chunks of land.

Maybe you’ve heard of places like Africa, or Asia, or North America. These are all continents, and there are 7 all together.

And continents are split up into different countries. For example the continent of Africa has more than 50 countries in all.

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush too

So, here’s your first riddle about one of the continents:

If you pay a visit to the outback

You might see a kangaroo

It’s fun to live down under,

‘Cause you can surf all day too.

What continent am I talking about?

(pause)

>> GROUP: AUSTRALIA!!!

>> RACHEL: Australia!

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush in little circles around each tooth

When you got to Australia, you might be surprised to hear people speaking English but in a really different way.

Australian accented person: Fantastic mate!

>> Kids: What?

>> RACHEL: A “mate” is a friend! When you’re there, someone might offer you Brekkie (SFX)  - or breakfast - (SFX yumm)  and they might be wearing Tracky Dacks (SFX huh) - those are sweatpants. (SFX ahh)

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and brush those molars in the back too.

In Australia, there are also some VERY special animals, like a kangaroo. (SFX boing) Kangaroos are MARSUPIALS, or animals that carry their babies around in a big, built-in pocket, or pouch. It’s kind of like when you see a grown-up carrying a baby around in a pack on their chest.  (SFX baby)

That's it for Chompers today, but come back tonight for more continent riddles. Until then

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
