>> RACHEL: We hope you’re ready to hitch a ride around the world, because it's time for Chompers your morning and night toothbrushing show.
Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth
>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!!
>> RACHEL: It’s Geography Week, and today we’ve got some true or false for you! If you think what we say is true, (SFX TRUE) thumbs up. If its false, (SFX FALSE) thumbs down.
Here's your first one:
All of the land on earth used to be connected, like one giant island.
So, is this true or false? Was all the land on earth connected together?
The answer is…. TRUE (SFX TRUE)!
Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush your molars in the way back too
Millions of years ago, there was just one giant SUPERcontinent called Pangea.
>> Kid: What?
>> RACHEL: PanGEA! It’s like if you stuck together all the seven continents into one big piece (SFX cartoon stretch) - that was Pangea. Scientists call it a SUPERcontinent. That was over 200 million years ago. Back then, there weren’t any people living on Pangea... but there were a LOT of dinosaurs! (SFX dino roar)
Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush too.
Here’s another true or false:
When it gets really hot inside the earth, it makes an earthquake.
Ok so is that true or false? Do earthquakes happen when the inside of the earth gets too hot?
The answer is… False! (SFX FALSE).
Earthquakes are caused when huge pieces of rock underneath the grass and dirt and trees start moving around and bumping into each other. (SFX BOINK)
Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and don’t brush too hard
Deep under the soil there are big layers of rock. (SFX ROCKS) They’re called Tectonic plates, and they are GIGANTIC. Sometimes more than one country is on the same Tectonic Plate - that’s how HUGE they are. And, all of the world’s tectonic plates fit together like a puzzle. Sometimes, the puzzle pieces move around a little bit and bump into each other, (SFX boink!) and that makes the earth feel like it’s shaking... (SFX woah oh oh oh woaaaahh)
That's it for Chompers today, but come back tonight for more true or false. Until then,
>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
