It’s Everybody Week on Chompers! This week we’ll be talking about ACCESSIBILITY, and we're starting things off with a quiz!

>> RACHEL: Good morning, it's time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.
Start brushing on the top of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside, and chewing side of each tooth.
>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!
.. RACHEL: It’s EVERYBODY WEEK!
>>KID: Every Body.
>>RACHEL: And this week we’ll be talking about ACCESSIBILITY, and what it means to be disabled. Accessibility is when something is made so that EVERY-BODY can use it.
People’s bodies come in all shapes and sizes and how they do things can be different. Some people see really well without wearing glasses. Other people wear glasses to help them see, and some people can’t see at all.
So- we’re going to start Everybody Week with a quiz!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth…

>> RACHEL: -and don’t forget the molars in the way back.
So the question is: which of these things makes a building more ACCESSIBLE?
Is it:
A ramp?

>>RACHEL: Handrails?

>>RACHEL: Or elevators?

>>RACHEL: Before we try to answer, let’s learn more about what ACCESSIBILITY means.
Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth…
[SWITCH BELL]
>>RACHEL: and give your tongue a brush too.
[MUSIC IN]
>>RACHEL: If someone has trouble doing something; like seeing, hearing or moving around, they might have a disability. Disability is normal. People are different! Kind of like how some people are tall, and some people are short.
When someone has a disability they might do some things differently, or use a tool to help them. Kind of like when a person who can’t see very well wears glasses.
Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

>>RACHEL: -and brush your front teeth, too.
So, if a building is accessible, it means all types of people are able to use it, regardless of what they can or cannot do, or whether or not they have a disability.
