>> NARRATOR: Dani has lost a tooth and her mom has made her an appointment at the big kid dentist.  But she doesn’t really remember when she went to the dentist as a little kid … so she and her friends are determined to find out - what’s the story with the big kid dentist!  So they ask their teacher … Mr. Chipper!

MR. CHIPPER

        It’s funny you should ask about the dentist. I am a huge fan of dentistry. 

PENNY

Mr. Chipper, is there a difference between the dentist and a dentist for big kid teeth? And does the dentist really turn into a turkey?!?

GERTIE

Why did Dani lose a tooth and I didn’t? 

DUTCH

Can the big kid dentist cast spells like a wizard? 

MR. CHIPPER

Class, settle down. I remember when I lost my first tooth. I had a lot of questions, too

FOR EXAMPLE, WHAT ARE TEETH MADE OF? 

WHY DO WE NEED TO KEEP THEM CLEAN? 

PENNY

Mr. Chipper, we already know what teeth are, but what does the dentist do for big kid teeth? 

MR. CHIPPER

Ah ah ah... It's important to know 

WHAT TEETH DO? HOW THEY CHEW UP YOUR FOOD? 

HOW YOU USE THEM TO SPEAK NICELY OR BE RUDE.

GERTIE

Mr. Chipper... The dentist please?

MR. CHIPPER

Oh right. After I lost some baby teeth, I went to the dentist for a check up. 

I HOPPED IN THE CAR WITH MY WHOLE FAMILY. 

WE GOT TO THE OFFICE AND MY BROTHER, STANLEY,

HE GRABBED MY HAND AND SAID, THE DENTIST WILL BE FUN.

DANI

But Mr. Chipper - what does a big kid dentist do? 

MR. CHIPPER

I SAT DOWN IN THE CHAIR. THERE WAS MAGIC IN THE AIR. 

DANI

This is going nowhere. 

MR. CHIPPER

And that’s how I got to my check up at the dentist. 

DUTCH

But Mr. Chipper, we're not any closer to learning what a big kid dentist does!   

MR. CHIPPER

So, at your check up, the dentist - 

FRIENDS/DANI

Yes?!?

MR. CHIPPER

The big kid dentist...

FRIENDS/DANI

YES?!?

MR. CHIPPER

Kids these days have no patience. 

DENTISTRY HAS BEEN AROUND FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. 

IN ANCIENT GREECE THEY BRUSHED THEIR TEETH JUST LIKE YOU DO HERE. 

PENNY

Really?

MR. CHIPPER

Yes! But we actually think the first dentist in the world lived in Ancient Egypt over 5,000 years ago. 

MR. CHIPPER

KEEPING ALL YOUR TEETH CLEAN IS A SACRED ART

DENTISTS ALL AROUND THE WORLD TEACH KIDS TO START

BRUSHING, FLOSSING, RINSING, UNTIL BIG KID TEETH COME IN 

DUTCH

MR.CHIPPER

(A school bell rings)

Oh dear, look at the time! I guess I'll have to tell you tomorrow.
