>> Rachel: Welcome back to Chompers, your morning and night tooth brushing show. Start brushing on the top of your mouth, on one side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!!

>> Rachel: It’s Communication Week on Chompers, and today we’re playing ...

[What’s That Sound Theme]

>> Rachel: We’ll play the sound of a very old fashioned communication device, and you get to guess what it is.

Ready for your first sound?

[Beeps and Boops]

>> Rachel: Hmmm, let’s hear that again…

[Beeps and Boops]

>> Rachel: So, what tool is this? What’s that sound?

>> GROUP: : Morse Code.

>> Rachel: Morse Code!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush, too.

Morse code is a way of communicating. It uses short sounds (dot) called dots, and longer sounds (dashes) called dashes. Like this sound: (Letter Z) , two dots and a dash, stands for the letter Z! People would send messages to each other over long distances with morse code before emails, texting, or even phone calls existed.

 [MORSE CODE]

>> Rachel: Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth, and spit if you need to.

Ready for you next sound?

[Bring Bring]

>> Rachel: Hmmm, let’s hear that again…

[Bring Bring]

>> Rachel: So, what's that sound?

>> GROUP: A Telephone!

>> Rachel: A Telephone!

Switch your brushing to the otherside of the bottom of your mouth, and keep brushing.

Telephones are a tool we use to talk when we’re not in the same room as someone.  Telephones used to work by sending our voice through a wire, to the person we were calling. (Ring, Oh Hello!) But now we might use a cell phone, which sends our voice through invisible waves in the air! (SFX Sci-Fi Waves)

That’s all the time we have to this morning, but come back tonight for more Chompers.

Until then,

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!!
