>> Rachel: It’s Grosser Week, and tonight we’ve got more ...

WHATS THAT SOUND? 

We’ll play a gross sound for you, and you have to guess what it is. Here’s your first one: 

(SFX EEEERP)

Oh excuse me! Here’s that sound one more time

(SFX EERRRRP)

So...what’s that sound??

Find out after you switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush in circles all the way around each tooth

That sound is.. 

>> GROUP: A burp! 

>> Rachel: A burp or a belch, is what we call it when our bodies release gas through our mouths. Burps can happen because as we eat, sometimes some air, which contains gas, sneaks into your stomach along with your food. To get rid of the extra gas in your belly, your stomach will push a ball of gas up into your ESOPHAGUS, the long tube that connects your mouth to your stomach. That ball will (SFX RUMBLING) rumble up through your esophagus until you (SFX BURP) and let it out.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and keep brushing

Here’s one more sound for you:

SFX CAW CAW CAW

What was that? Here it is one more time:

So...whats that sound? 

>> GROUP: A Fulmar!

>> Rachel: What's a fulmar? Fulmars are birds that kind of look like seagulls. But they do one thing that seagulls definitely don't do. 

>> KID: What is it? 

>> Rachel: Find out after you switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and brush your front teeth too.

Fulmar are known for spitting a super stinky, sticky oil at their enemies. If a Fulmar feels threatened by another bird, it will vomit a special oil it keeps in its stomach. (SFX KID GAG) That oil stinks like rotting fish, and can be so sticky that it gums up the predator's wings, making it unable to fly.
