>> Rachel: Good morning! It's time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show

Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and brush your front teeth too

>> Kids: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: It's Grosser Week, so get ready to get grossed out by our icky I Spies. I'll describe something, and you have to figure out what it is.

Here’s your first one:

Yikes, it’s stinky in here! I see a huge pile of garbage, and crawling all around it are little, brown bugs. They have six legs, a hard, shiny body, and little antennae sticking out of the front of their heads. It looks like they are eating the trash! YUCK!

What are these creatures?

Find out after you switch to the other side of the top of your mouth and keep on brushing

Those creatures are:

>> GROUP: COCKROACHES!

>> Rachel: Cockroaches. Cockroaches are gross creatures for lots of reasons, but one of the ickiest things about them is they can live …. WITHOUT THEIR HEADS! (SFX YUCK)! Also kinda cool, right? Cockroaches don't use their mouths to breathe, and they can live for a long time without eating. Scientists have seen roaches survive for WEEKS without their heads! Gross!

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

Here’s your next I SPY:

I see a slithery creature. (SFX SNAKE) It has no arms or legs, just one long body covered in scales. And it likes to flick its tongue in and out (SFX TONGUE BRUSHING)

What creature is this, shout it out!

>> Group: A SNAKE!

>> Rachel: A snake. Snakes made it into Grosser Week because of the way they shed their skin. (SFX HUH?)

I'll explain after you switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and brush the molars in the back too

When humans grow, like kids do, our skin stretches to make room for the bones growing inside. But snake skin doesn't do that. When a snake grows, it has to grow a WHOLE NEW SKIN to fit its new, bigger body. So when that new skin is ready, the snake wiggles its way out of its old skin. (SFX WIGGLE?) What's left behind is a flaky, crust of old snake skin (SFX EWWW)

That's it for Chompers today, but come back tonight for another gross game of I SPY. Until then,

>> Kids: 3, 2, 1 spit!
