>> Rachel: Good morning, It's time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show. 

Get your thinking caps on, because its INVENTORS WEEK -- we’re going to be learning about the people who make new things -- INVENTIONS!

Start brushing on the top of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: See your toothbrush? Someone invented that. That means they came up with the idea for it. 

An invention is a thing, or a way of doing something, that is completely new. And people who come up with inventions are called inventors. You might think inventors are all scientists or engineers, but inventors can be anyone! Inventors create solutions to problems. So this week, we’re talking about some of the coolest inventors … and were starting with a quiz (SFX QUIZ) 

But first, switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back.

Today’s quiz question is: 

Which of these things was invented by a kid? (Giggle) (SFX QUIZ) 

Was it

The trampoline? (SFX BOING)

The ice cream maker (SFX SLURP)

OR

The flushing toilet? (SFX FLUSH)

To figure it out, let’s learn a little more about these inventions.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth. 

First up, the trampoline. (SFX BOING)  A trampoline is something you jump on, that makes you bounce REALLY HIGH! They’re made of a metal frame that has SPRINGY fabric stretched across it! 

So did a kid invent a trampoline? Or maybe a kid invented The Ice Cream Maker (SFX SLURP)

The ice cream maker was invented in 1843. It was a bucket that held ice, with a can in the center to hold the cream.  You used a crank to CHURN cream (SFX Party Noise Whistle) -- and as it spun around in the bucket, it became ice cream 

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth and brush your front teeth too

maybe a kid invented the first flushing toilet? (SFX FLUSH) You know the toilet … it’s where you POOP! 

So, now that we know a little more about our inventions, it’s time to make a guess.
