Hey there, it’s time for Chompers! Your morning and night toothbrushing show. Start brushing on the top of your mouth. Pick a side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth
3, 2, 1 brush!
It's Earth Week, and today we’ve got some riddles for you!
Here’s your first one:
I’m like a community,
Where things are alive
Everyone has a role to play
So that plants and animals can thrive!
What am I?
An ecosystem!
An ecosystem is formed by all the things you can find in one area. So an ecosystem can be a forest, a grassland or a coral reef.
Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush too.
[Switch Bell]
All living things, like plants, bacteria and animals are part of ecosystems. And nonliving things like water and rocks provide homes for those creatures in an ecosystem.
We know that human activities like cutting trees, hunting, or fishing can hurt an entire ecosystem. For example, if lots of trees are cut down the animals that used to live in these trees won’t have a home to live in.
Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush in little circles around each tooth.
[Switch Bell]
Here’s another riddle:
I take many forms
In water, air and dirt
I can be a real bad threat
And cause the Earth to hurt
What am I?
Pollution.
Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and brush those molars in the back too.
[Switch Bell]
Pollution is when something is added to an ecosystem- something harms the beings living in that ecosystem. Pollution can come from a gas, smoke or other chemicals. You can find pollution in the air, the water, and the soil.
There are many ways to help reduce pollution. Today, many farmers have stopped using chemicals that hurt the environment. When you buy the products of these famers you can help reduce pollution.
That's it for Chompers today, but come back tonight for more riddles. Until then…
