Here’s your first one.
I was a famous singer
Whose nickname was “The Queen”
But if you don’t show me some respect-
I might just cause a scene!
Who am I?
[SOUL MUSIC BEGINS]
>> GROUP: Aretha Franklin
>> RACHEL: Aretha Franklin! Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth…
[SWITCH BELL]
>> RACHEL: -and brush those front teeth too.
Aretha Franklin was a very famous vocalist, which means she was a singer. She grew up singing gospel music, or songs that are often sung in church. But Aretha really became famous when she started singing “soul” music, like Ray Charles! Her nickname was the Queen of Soul, because she sang that kind of music so well that someone gave her a crown after one of her performances! One of Aretha Franklin’s most famous songs is “Respect”!
Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth...
[SWITCH BELL]
>> RACHEL: -and brush the molars in the way back too.
Here’s your next riddle:
I am the king of rock ‘n’ roll
And I can really sing
‘Cause when I croon and shake my hips
You know that I’m the king
Who am I?
[ROCK MUSIC BEGINS]
>> GROUP: Elvis Presley
>> RACHEL: Elvis Presley!
Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…
[SWITCH BELL]
>> RACHEL: -and don't brush too hard.
Elvis Presley was one of the first rock stars, a type of music that’s still very popular today! People often call him “The King of Rock and Roll” because he was one of the first and most well known musicians to play that style of music. He was known for his funky dance moves too, and for acting in movies. One of his most famous songs was about a hound dog!
