Your money CAN make more money! But not by working a job, money can’t do that! … your money makes money through INTEREST.

>> Rachel: Remember how a LOAN is when you give someone money for a little while, and then they pay you back? 

Well a lot of times when you loan money to someone, you charge them INTEREST.  That’s a little extra money that they give you because you gave them the loan.

So if you grownup asks to borrow a dollar from you, tell them you’re going to charge them INTEREST so your money can make money!

Here’s another true or false: 

The only place to keep your money is under the mattress.

The answer is… FALSE!

Well … sort of. You can keep your money in lots of places. In a wallet, in the bank, under the mattress if you want to … or even in a jar!

One good way to keep your money is in four jars.  Here’s how it works. Each jar is money that you’ll use for different things.

One jar is money that you can use whenever you want. (SFX COINS)

One jar is money that you want to use to do something nice for other people, like giving gifts. (SFX COINS)

One jar is money that you’re saving to buy something you want, like a new toy. (SFX COINS)

And one jar is money you’re saving to buy something REALLY big, like a bike! (SFX COINS)
