[THEME SONG BEGINS]
Welcome back! It’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show!
It’s Songs Week Tonight we’re going to learn about SINGING! With … SOME SONGS!
Pick a side on the top of your mouth and use your toothbrush to make small circles around each tooth!
THREE, TWO, ONE BRUSH!
Music is made of A LOT of pieces. And there are different ways to talk about those pieces!
A SOLO means you sing or play all by yourself! You’re the star!
A DUET is a song you sing with someone else! You’re a team, making music TOGETHER!
A QUARTET is a group of FOUR people or instruments … each with own part to sing or play, to make the song beautiful!
Switch your brushing to other side of the top of your mouth, and make sure you’re brushing the INSIDE, the OUTSIDE, and the CHEWING side of each of your teeth!
So here’s what a SOLO sounds like:
Here’s a solo, here’s a solo
By myself, just me and I!
Just my voice and what I’m singing
I’m the star here, no other guys.
Any person, any instrument
Playing loud, all alone
In an orchestra or a choir
Or a band or a combo
Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth. Don’t forget to brush your FRONT teeth too!
A DUET is a song with two people or instruments.
A: Here’s a duet, here’s a duet
B: The two of us side by side
A: We are partners on this melody
H: We sing together and get it right
B: You take this part, I’ll take that part
A: Different roles for us to play
B: But when we bring them both together
H: Our duet sounds really great
Time to brush the other side of the bottom of your mouth -- make sure you’re reaching the molar teeth in the back!
A quarter just means four of something … and a really fun kind of quarter is a BARBERSHOP quartet.
Our last part is a quartet - It sounds like THIS!
Here’s a quartet, here’s a quartet
Four of us all on the case
I’m the lead guy I’m the baritone
I’m the tenor I’m the bass
We’re a quartet, we’re a quartet
With our teamwork can’t go wrong!
We each sing our different parts but
They come together on this song
So now you know what a solo, a duet, and a quartet sounds like!
You’ve done a great job brushing! Time to rinse out your mouth and … 3 2 1 spit!
